The 500th Combilift multi-directional forklift truck to be sold in Britain has been supplied to James Latham plc’s Bristol branch.
The milestone was reached with Latham’s order for four 4-tonne capacity Combilifts at the company’s Yate outlet, where an extra 40,000ft2 of storage facilities have been developed in response to growing business. The new facilities represent part of a £300,000 site expansion and improvement scheme.
A covered racking complex and guided rail system were designed specifically for the Combilift, enabling the company to keep aisle widths to a minimum and stack to 6.8m.
Ireland-based Combilift Ltd said Latham’s Yate director Andy Duffin was their first UK customer to recognise the potential of the guided rail system when he introduced it at the company’s Hemel Hempstead branch in 2001.
More than 2,000 Combilifts have now been sold in 40 countries just five years after its launch.
