Corob mixing technology has enabled Knottingley-based Arch Coatings UK Ltd to improve colour continuity and dramatically reduce delivery lead times.
The £25,000 Corob Modula installation, which mixes Arch’s Sayerlack paints and pigmented lacquers, has reduced lead times on high demand pigmented polyurethanes to as little as 24 hours. It can also handle all material types at output rates of up to 2,000 litres per day.
John Breed, Arch Coatings‘ deputy general manager, said the Modula guarantees colour accuracy to within 1% through automatic and programmable agitation and recirculation of colourants. It is also equipped with an Oracolor spectrophotometer, featuring a laser pointer for sample reading at observer levels.
The mixer has 16 external tanks containing a broad matrix of colourants and 32 internal canisters, giving a measurement range from 380 to 730 nanometers, with colour resolution in increments as low as 8nm.
