AL Dalton Ltd is in talks with machinery manufacturer Wadkin with a view to investing in new design and technology to ensure the equipment keeps pace with the demands of the 21st century.
AL Dalton director Francis Dalton said: “We are discussing how we can modernise and improve the range and, looking to the future, how we can keep it up to date with the market. We want to develop the Wadkin range and move it forward.”
He said that Wadkin machines are more expensive than cheaper imports but added: “The market still appreciates British-built quality engineering.”

Andy Walsh, Daltons sales director, said that while the UK market is being invaded with cheaper machines from the Far East and other sources, there is still a significant sector requiring build quality with back up service and UK manufacture.
He added that while Daltons might be bucking the trend, it sees a continuing future for Wadkin products, particularly as there is now very little home-grown competition.
