People have flocked to secure places on Chiltern Dynamics’ UKAS accreditation service for testing insulating glass units to EN 1279.
Simon Beer of Chiltern Dynamics said the company’s test capacity would be pushed to the limits later this year when EN 1279: Glass in Building – Insulated Glass Units should be fully ratified.
He said: “We are in the process of significantly expanding our capacity, but even so, we still anticipate a shortfall in test capacity in the UK if everyone is to get through in time.”
Sister company BM TRADA Certification also has a service to help manufacturers meet the new standard, which ensures compliance with the Construction Products Directive, allows CE marking and provides quality assurance of the product.
To meet the legislative requirements, manufacturers will have to satisfy factory production control requirements, including audit tests, and carry out initial type testing, whether they wish to CE mark or not.
