The customer uses high quality materials and the substantial cross-sections of the parts required a machining centre with great spindle power to work solid hardwood and the structural rigidity to achieve top quality finishing. The customer also wanted to be able to work with mixed batches of different products, such as window and door frames and stairs, and reduce setup times.
The Domus has a mobile beam structure supported on either side of the machine frame which guarantees high levels of rigidity.
A feature of the TX3/500 spindle assembly, designed by CMS, is the large cross-section HSK 63E coupling which transfers all 15kW of power to the tool.
Thicknesses of up to 120mm can be securely held, enabling the tool to remove substantial quantities of material while still achieving a high quality finish.
The real brain of the system is the software. PowerWIN and PowerSTAIRS CAD/CAM systems for the production of window and door frames and stairs are complemented by the EASYDISP module which controls the automatic positioning of the fastening jigs.
The Domus machining centre is now available in the UK.
