Technology licensing company Energyflo Construction Technologies had experts on hand to demonstrate the concept of “dynamic insulation”, which uses the heat escaping from a building to warm air being ducted through the ventilation system.
Via dynamic insulation, the temperature of the incoming air can be raised by as much as 8ºC, using energy that would otherwise be lost – an idea that the architects, specifiers, insulation manufacturers and builders visiting the stand found “very powerful”, according to marketing director Scot McRae.
“The fact that through dynamic insulation we can alter U-values and deliver what the customer needs without changing the fabric of the building is very compelling,” he said. “And there is huge potential in retro-fit.
“Last year’s Ecobuild for us was about the concept of dynamic insulation,” he added, “now it’s in the market and the market is ready to buy.”
