The company, which specialises in the manufacture and maintenance of industrial saw blades and cutting tools, said the investment has allowed it to produce products of a consistently high quality, including a computer print out of the specification produced.

A substantial amount of the money required was secured with the help of Business Link Tees Valley’s operation. Its Access to Finance team helped Ernest Bennett prepare its application for the DTI’s Selective Finance for Investment grant.

The investment has opened up a number of opportunities for the company which will enable it to increase its 50-strong workforce by eight over the next two years.

Ernest Bennett managing director Robin Maxey said: “Since installing the new machinery at the turn of the year the company has reaffirmed its position as the leading force within the industrial saw blade cutting tool industry.

“The investment has already opened up a number of opportunities for the company in both the home and export markets.”

Ernest Bennett & Co is now developing plans to expand its TCT circular saw manufacturing operation.
