Importer and sawmiller Oregon-Canadian Europe Ltd has installed an extraction system which allows it to separate hardwood and softwood shavings into dedicated chip trailers.
The Wigan-based company chose a system from Air Pollution Equipment (APE) Ltd to serve two moulders which machine a variety of timber species.
APE dedicated one of its Type RFPA filters for each moulder, which then discharges into one of two conveying mains before delivering the shavings to the correct softwood or hardwood trailer.
The outlet of each filter is fitted with a compressed air change-over damper which diverts the by-product to the correct conveying duct for onward delivery to the trailers.
Moulder operators select the correct trailer via a switch on a control panel.
APE says its system is able to run 24 hours a day without downtime needed for bag cleaning or regeneration.
