Forestry Commission Scotland is recruiting a permanent chief executive to lead Forest Enterprise Scotland, the agency responsible for managing the country’s publicly-owned forests. However, an appointment is unlikely to be made until the completion of Scotland’s forest land review. The review group is scheduled to report to Scottish Executive ministers by the end of April.
Hugh Insley has been acting FE Scotland chief executive since September 2003 following the amalgamation of the two FE divisions covering the north and south of Scotland. He was previously director of FE’s north of Scotland arm.
The chief executive post will be based at FE Scotland’s headquarters in Inverness.
