A major step in communicating the characteristics and classifications of floor coverings in a standardised way has been taken.
Three major floor product groups, the European Producers of Laminate Flooring, European Carpet and Rug Association and European Resilient Flooring Manufacturers’ Institute, have agreed on a list of standardised symbols related to European testing standards.
The symbols have been made clearly recognisable with a graphical uniformity and are copyright protected by the European Committee for Standardisation.
The pictograms, which can be downloaded from www.floorsymbols.com for use in commercial documents, labels and websites, is to be included in a new specific European Technical Report during 2005.
Companies which have already downloaded the graphics include Tarkett–Marley Floors Ltd, Kronospan and Armstrong DLW AG.
