So far, 2025 has already been a busy year for WJ Group. For example, it has opened its latest preservative treatment site at the Port of Creeksea in Essex. The new site comes through a partnership with Baltic Distribution and the move marks a significant expansion in the Group’s national timber treatment capabilities. The new facility reinforces its commitment to providing high-quality preservative timber treatment solutions while increasing efficiency and capacity to meet growing demand.

The strategically located site will play a vital role in servicing the UK’s timber industry, offering preservative treatments tailored for servicing large-scale timber importers. The Port of Creeksea benefits from excellent logistical advantages, allowing WJ Group to streamline supply chains and improve service speeds for customers across the region. The new treatment site is closer to key distribution channels and will complement WJ Group’s existing treatment offering, while enhancing overall efficiency.

“Our expansion to the Port of Creeksea marks an exciting milestone for WJ Group,” said Alex Torkington, group commercial director. “This facility strengthens our ability to deliver high-quality treatment options to our customers while supporting our long-term commitment to service and expertise.”

The site will specialise in delivering industrial-scale preservative treatment options for importers. Operations at the new Port of Creeksea facility are now under way, with WJ Group welcoming existing and new customers to take advantage of the enhanced service offering.

As well as the new site at the Port of Creeksea, WJ Group has also made investments into other brands within the business.

FireWright, the Group’s high-pressure impregnation fire-retardant treatment that uses Burnblock to treat timber and woodbased panels, has seen three new Secal kilns installed at its treatment facility in Kirkburn, East Yorkshire. The installation has greatly decreased the lead time for treatment of material and helped to keep up with the growing demand for a 100% sustainable and natural fire-retardant treatment.

WJ Group’s DeckWright anti-slip decking brand has also re-located due to an increased demand for the service. Providing both an anti-slip service and pre-anti-slipped decking boards, DeckWright has seen a rise in interest on the product in commercial spaces. The demand has led to a move into a dedicated facility running two production lines. The new site is located close to WJ Group’s preservative treatment site in Hull, helping it to offer an anti-slip and preservative treatment combination service.

Other investments include a new truck to add to the company’s growing fleet of HGVs, helping to cater for demand for service treatment and haulage, as well as new machinery and more. The rest of the year looks to continue to be busy as the Group pushes on with its national operations.
