Essex cabinet maker and components distributor William Ball Ltd found an Italian solution to ease a bottleneck created by recent specification upgrades.
The bottleneck, created by Ball’s new Superior range of carcassing for kitchens, bedrooms and offices, was solved by Italian firm BreMa‘s Vektor GLR-PM – a new generation of vertical panel drilling machines.
Ball’s works director Jim Ball snapped up the Vektor from BreMa distribution agency NEY at last year’s Woodmex exhibition.
Its flexibility and speed particularly appealed to Mr Ball: the fully automatic Vektor operates at 60m/min in a single pass with leading and trailing board edges checked to compensate automatically for inconsistencies.
Advanced CNC controls and windows-based software with CAD import facilities and bar coding aid flexible programming and eliminate the need for manual intervention between different processing patterns.
The machine is being fed manually but an automatic system from NEY will be installed soon. Another BreMa drilling machine is planned for the future to increase capacity further.
