One of the best known names in timber and builders merchant software, Kerridge, is back following a management buy-out.

Kerridge was acquired by the ADP group in December 2005 and has since operated as the latter’s commercial division, selling, developing and servicing the K8 software system.

Now a management buy-out, headed by group managing director Ian Bendelow and backed with funds from NVM Private Equity, has seen the emergence of a new private company, Kerridge Commercial Systems.

Mr Bendelow said that the business had continued to work as a semi-autonomous unit within ADP.

“Ultimately this has provided us with the opportunity to acquire the business,” he said.

Hungerford-based Kerridge Commercial Systems, he added, will continue to focus on product research and development, sales, marketing and support, with offices in the UK, Ireand , South Africa and the Netherlands.

According to marketing manager Nell McIntosh, the timber sector remains an important market for the company.

“The timber business in all its guises will continue to be a key focus for us and we’re committed to further investment in developing the timber functionality within K8,” she said.

“We will develop a future strategy which will be focused on the specialised needs of our customers and make the best use of the technologies available to us,” said Mr Bendelow.

Ms McIntosh said feedback from customers on the buy- out had been “very positive”.
