Kurawood plc has officially launched its hardwood alternative VECOwood, with the company stating that it does “all things for all men”.
VECOwood, organically modified softwood treated with the VECO process, is a “save the planet product” according to chairman Roy Tilleard and Justin Martin, the company’s chief financial officer, with the use of fast-growing plantation timber and an organic treatment process at the heart of the product.
They said the finished product, marketed as Kura, offers end users benefits, including strength and durability, to compete with traditional hardwoods.
“We are offering a real alternative that gives all the benefits of hardwood without plundering the environment,” said Mr Tilleard.
“It does all things for all men,” added Mr Martin.
Kurawood, which is “gearing up” to implement developments funded by its recent float on the Alternative Investment Market, has patented a powder coating technology to give Kura products a range of colour finishes.
A powder-coated Kura window frame was on display at Kurawood’s stand, alongside a window frame made from 35,500-year-old reclaimed swamp wood, demonstrating the versatility of the VECO process, according to Mr Tilleard.
