Magnet Ltd has taken delivery of three Aisle-Master articulated fork lifts to make better use of space at its Keighley and Darlington manufacturing facilities.

The trucks, the first Aisle-Master electric models to be used in the UK, have improved all-round handling efficiency, according to Keighley warehouse manager John Albone.

Mr Albone was faced with the challenge of maintaining volumes to supply the company’s national network of more than 200 retail showrooms in less than half the space previously available, due to the Keighley joinery site being substantially reduced in size.

He needed a materials handling solution which could negotiate confined spaces and narrow aisles.

The Aisle-Master trucks, taken on a contract hire agreement, are working in the hardware and production areas at Keighley, handling a range of items including palletised doors and joinery.

They can lift pallets to 4.7m in aisle widths of 1.8m, while the unit at the Darlington kitchen division is fitted with a 6.6m mast.
