Irish furniture manufacturer G Morgan & Sons Ltd is investing euro400,000 in a Homag BAZ 723 CNC processing centre.

The Drogheda-based company, which will take delivery of the new BAZ later this year, has already invested more than euro1m in machinery during the past three years.

The overhead gantry ProfiLine BAZ is described by Homag as having “enormous” capacity, being able to edge up to 2000m in the Y-axis and 4200mm in the X-axis.

Machinery installed by Morgan since 2001 includes a Holzma HPL11 beam saw, a Brandt single-sided edgebander with Ligmatech ZHR01 “Boomerang” panel return device, a second Brandt KD78CF, a compact Weeke CNC machining centre and a BAZ Event CNC stationary processor, which is able to shape, drill, rout and contour edge workpieces, such as desk tops, in a single clamping.

The company manufactures a wide range of office and educational furniture.
