The drive to strengthen links between schools and forest education has been boosted with the appointment of Rebecca Logsdon as the new Forest Education Initiative (FEI) co-ordinator for Scotland. The post is the direct result of partnership working between Forestry Commission Scotland and the FEI.

The role involves building up relationships between the timber industry and the education sector across Scotland through a network of forest cluster groups. This will include developing links with teachers and education authorities in the central belt of Scotland where urban forests are being developed with funds from Forestry Commission Scotland.

Ms Logsdon’s previous job with the Scottish Wildlife Trust involved supporting a network of Wildlife Watch groups and promoting environmental education in schools throughout Scotland.

Ms Logsdon is based in the Commission’s Central Scotland Conservancy and she works out of the office in Edinburgh.
