Bob Shiells, who spent his working life in the sawmilling industry, died on June 23 after a long illness. He was 65.
His career started with A&R Brownlie Ltd in 1952 and, apart from a three-year break for National Service, he was involved for the rest of his life in the sawmilling industry.
In 1971 he moved north with his young wife Lorna, son Scott and daughter Lynn, to Boat of Garten. He transformed the out of date mill and built a new, highly successful operation.
For the last four years of his working life he was production director for the five major sawmills operated by BSW.
Mr Shiells was greatly respected, a true and loyal man, and the Brownlie family consider it a privilege to have known him.
