John Lorimer Darwentdied on June 21 at the age of 77. Mr Darwent joined the family business, Southern & Darwent Ltd on leaving school, succeeding his father, Kenneth Darwent, as chairman and managing director. He occupied these offices for many years until the business was acquired by John S Bass & Co.
Mr Darwent was active in both the Timber Trades’ Benevolent Society and Rotary movement.
