First time Interbuild exhibitor the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes (PEFC) noted that certification was definitely on the building industry’s agenda, with enquiries from a cross-section of visitors including small builders merchants and, by extension, individual housebuilders.
“We’ve been able to take visitors through the scheme and have ‘quality’ conversations with them,” said Hilary Khawam, PEFC communications director. “Many have said it’s good to see PEFC marketing itself,” she added.
PEFC will be hosting a free seminar on June 13 entitled “Responsible procurement – why PEFC certification is good for business” and will explain the importance of chain of custody. “The message needs to filter right down through the supply chain,” said PEFC national secretary William Walker.
