SATRA has received more than 70 enquiries about its furniture industry testing, consultancy and training services in recent weeks, sparked by the company’s participation at ASFI in November.
John Shipman of SATRA said that as well as interest from the furniture sector, enquiries were received from other ASFI exhibitors keen to use the technology centre’s testing and advisory services.
SATRA member John Green of Stonebridge, a manufacturer of pre-formed plywood components for the seating industry, said: “The best aspect of SATRA’s service is that they work with you to solve problems, not simply to tell you that your product has failed a test.”
And Martin Taylor of laminates and veneers producer Cova Products Ltd said: “We have been developing new printing technology for about a year. It is very successful at producing oaks, maple and cherry effects, and our products are highly scratch-resistant to surface abrasion. SATRA’s assistance has been vital, as we need the services of an independent, accredited test house to verify product development and test our products.”
