SCM Group (UK) Ltd took more than £650,000 worth of confirmed orders at its most comprehensive in-house show to date.

The company said attendance and interest was so high at the April 14-16 exhibition that it even ran out of timber for demonstrations. More wood had to be ordered to put on further displays.

A high number of visitors came from the joinery sector serving the housebuilding and construction industries. Popular machines being demonstrated included technology for producing windows, stairs and door components.

SCM UK managing director Ian Brown said more orders were likely to follow the show, held at the company’s Nottingham premises.

He added: “The fact so many new potential customers as well as existing ones came to look at SCM and the set-up we have available, made all the preparation worthwhile.”

Visitors saw the new version of the Record 132 TVN, which machines windows, doors and solid wood components, featuring 24-position tool changers.

A Record 110 TVN machined full-size doors, including hinge and lock recessing, glass and letterbox openings, plus edge grooving, while a Record 125 demonstrated how a number of panels can be nested out of a full-size sheet of MDF or chipboard.

Other machines at the show included the Pratix 48 NST nesting CNC router, the range of Compact, Superset and Topset planer/moulders, a Windor 20 CNC window maching centre, plus SCM and Mini Max Classical machines.
