A log cabin leisure development in Scotland has been protected with Akzo Nobel‘s Sikkens range of wood coatings.
Architects Huddleston & Fiest specified the Sikkens Cetol woodcare range for Piperdam, which features 32 timber chalets and a large Latvian log house leisure spa centre. A further eight chalets are under construction.
Decking and balconies of the spa centre are coated with Cetol Novatech, which uses low solvent-based technology. A dark brown colour was used to blend in with the surrounding environment.
Cetol BL Unitop, a water-based acrylic urethane varnish, was specified for interior trim detailing, while a Cetol HLS undercoat and Cetol Filter 7 finishing coat protects the chalets’ exterior timber. The solvent-borne semi-gloss Filter 7 includes ultraviolet light absorbers.
Timber used in the development varies from Latvian pine to home-grown Scottish wood.
