A Striebig vertical panel saw is hitting the right note at a Liverpool-based organ builder and repairer.

The installation of the Compact TRK 4164 at GO-Organs.com Ltd, one of agent TM Machinery Sales’ most unusual applications for a Striebig saw, is helping to improve efficiency throughout the business.

Gary Owens, who runs the company with Carl McCain, said more machinery had been needed to keep up with growing orders. And he had been impressed with Striebig after seeing one of the saws in action at the local B&Q.

The Compact was bought primarily for cutting wood to make pipe trays for transporting organ pipes from clients’ sites to the GO-Organs 1,750ft2 workshop, which the company moved to in May. But the saw also cuts 8x4ft panels of ply and other soft and hardwoods to the required sizes for repairing organ cases and the sound boards which the pipes sit on.

Mr Owens said: “We are finding new uses for it all the time. We now plan to start using it to cut sections for the wooden wind chests and trunks that carry the wind to the sound boards, as well as the rectangular wooden replacement pipes that are needed for a contract at Giggleswick School.”

He said the Compact, which retails from £8,300, speeds up work and helps guarantee quality, as organ pipe case manufacture and other woodwork was previously outsourced.
