Trade Fabrication Systems has coated a total of 1,269m² of oak flooring for a new student accommodation block in Stoke-on-Trent.
The company used a clear acrylic laquer to give the tongue and grooved boards a tough, durable protective coating, while “enhancing its natural aesthetics”.
The flooring, used in 31 apartments in the Caledonia Mills block which houses students from a range of colleges, was supplied by timber and building merchant Beers Ltd.
Beers sent the pre-cut material to TFS’s Warrington facility for coating and the latter first provided test samples of its finishes to the company and developer Carpenter Projects for approval.
Paul Conboy, director of Beers, said that TFS turned the order round efficiently and on time and the flooring was delivered to site ready for immediate installation, “so there was never any impact on the build programme”.
TFS also coated MDF window boards, skirting, architrave and door frames for the project with a primed and finished top coat of white gloss joinery paint.
