Fenay Machine Safety Ltd is reminding woodworking companies of the importance of training in minimising risks to workers.

The Huddersfield-based company says there is a statutory duty under health and safety legislation to provide employees with sufficient information, instruction and training to enable them to work safely with equipment.

Fenay says training should be undertaken when staff join an organisation or as soon as possible afterwards; whenever there are changes to working practices, conditions or systems of work; when new equipment is introduced; and at regular intervals in the form of “refresher” training.

The company, which can help woodworking firms comply with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998), carries out a wide range of certificated training, including machine specific safety awareness, lifting and slinging, manual handling, working safely at heights and working safely with abrasive wheels.
