The Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system has been supplied by Portuguese firm Creativesystems and allows Vicaima to tag and trace products throughout its facilities in Portugal.
It has been integrated with the companies existing enterprise resource planning systems and allows the company to eliminate potential errors throughout its operations, managing director Filipe Maia Ferreira said.
“Growth in productivity and the elimination of potential errors are clearly the major benefits of this system,” said Mr Ferreira.
Vicaima has added that it plans to introduce the RFID system at its other facilities in order to “maximise the benefits of this technology throughout the supply chain”.
