Latvian sawmill Vika Wood SIA in Talsi has placed an order for a Linck profiling saw-line which will be the 100th manufactured by the German company.
The saw-line forms the major part of a SKr65m investment programme which includes an 8MW boiler and kiln dryers. The new equipment, due to come into operation in December, will increase production from 135,000m3 of sawn goods each year to 200,000m3.
Vika Wood managing director Andris Krecers said: ‘We have been preparing for this investment since 2001. Our sales team has now established the company in more complicated markets and, for instance, we are already sending 50 containers a month to Japan.
