Arch Chemicals has reported strong growth in the second quarter, with the wood protection and industrial coatings markets helping to increase its sales to US$458.3m, compared to US$446.1m in 2006.
Arch’s wood protection and industrial coatings businesses saw sales reach US$115.9m, up from US$102.6m a year earlier, with operating income jumping from US$1m to US$7m year-on-year.
“Our wood protection business achieved excellent results during the quarter,” said chairman, president and chief executive officer Michael Campbell.
He added that Arch was hoping to “once again significantly grow the company’s annual earnings”, with further improvement expected from the company’s wood protection, industrial biocides and HTH Water Products businesses.
A recent study by Global Industry Analysts has shown that the US wood preservative chemicals market will be worth US$425m by 2010.
