Some 85% of visitors had purchasing power, compared to 79% at the previous three shows.

The survey, comprising 1,610 interviews at Xylexpo/Sasmil, found that 47% of visitors were from the industrial sector, 25% were craftsmen and 19% businessmen. About 70% had visited Xylexpo in the past, while 29% attended for the first time.

Meanwhile, 45% came to Xylexpo to update themselves on industry news, compared to 34% in 2004. The second most popular reason for visiting was the need to know the market (23%), followed by closing deals (20%), the need to purchase (14%) and professional update (13%).

Nearly three-quarters of those interviewed said the combination of Xylexpo and Sasmil should be maintained.
