A 35ft-high Elizabethan oak fireplace at the entrance to Pinewood Studios has been restored by Buckinghamshire New University students.
The restoration work, by furniture conservation, restoration & decorative arts Masters students, was designed to coincide with Pinewood’s 75th anniversary.
The fireplace dates from 1581 and was brought to Pinewood from Ilam Hall in Derbyshire in 1930.
It is situated at the main entrance to the studios and frames a set of doors – also restored by the students – originally from the ship RMS Mauretania.
