Scottish woodworking firm Abbotsford Building Company Ltd is enjoying improved efficiencies after switching from a table saw to a vertical panel saw.
The East Lothian company has installed a Striebig Compact 4164 vertical panel saw, which offers a 3100x1644mm cutting range and a 60mm cutting depth.
It is used by the firm to produce doors, windows and other joinery products, as well as in its housebuilding and renovation operations, cutting MDF, plywood, chipboard and other panel types.
“Cutting panels can now be done by one man and the quality we achieve is excellent, with a 100% square cut every time” said Abbotsford owner Charlie Johnston. “It’s saving us a lot of time and has made us much more efficient.”
Deral Ltd, which supplied and installed the saw on behalf of Striebig’s UK distributor TM Machinery Sales, also supplied Abbotsford with an optional scoring blade, which is used with veneered MDF panels.
