New Malden-based Champion Timber is expecting its expanded range of decking accessories to be a key factor in winning business in what is describes as an increasingly discerning sector.
Martin Saunders, a director at Champions, said people are “bored” with just having a standard rectangular decking system and are more aware of the range of options possible, including a choice of handrails, use of other materials (including rope and metal) and double-sided deck boards to give more options during installation.
He said the opening of a new branch at Chessington and a door-to-door/targeted leaflet drop is expected to help decking sales, which he predicts will now pick up following the Easter holidays.
Mr Saunders said: “We have got significant volumes of stock on the ground in anticipation of good decking sales and have expanded the accessories which we expect will be key to the sales of the product group.”
