Accoya cladding has made its UK debut in a commercial setting, helping Vincent Timber achieve an “exquisite new look” for the Boathouse Restaurant in Loch Lomond, Scotland.
Around 10,000 linear metres of Accoya were used for panelling on the exterior of the building and for finishing the bar and restaurant area. The Boathouse Restaurant is attached to the luxury De Vere Cameron House hotel.
It follows on from the opening of the world’s first commercial building clad in the modified material in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The first Accoya road bridge has also just been erected near the Dutch city of Sneek.
“We chose Accoya after evaluating it against other cladding products and the customer was pleased with its performance in both its internal and external uses,” said Vincent Timber’s Darren Powell.
“It is a very easy product to handle and the absence of cracks makes it ideal for this project.”
John Alexander, head of business development at BSW Timber, the UK’s sole supplier of Accoya, said the Loch Lomond project “reflects the growing interest in Accoya from the commercial sector”.
