A specialist consultancy to the timber, joinery and furniture sectors has been listed as a government Centre of Expertise in Manufacturing.
Hessle-based ACWI Ltd, an associate member of the British Woodworking Federation (BWF), will operate the centre as part of the DTI‘s Manufacturing Advisory Service.
The service, to be run in partnership with the Regional Development Agencies in England and the Welsh Development Agency, will focus on small- to medium-sized companies. Advice will cover production management, technology, quality and systems.
ACWI managing director Stuart Vincent said he was delighted the company’s skills and experience had been recognised.
During its six years of BWF membership, the consultancy has guided three members towards achieving accreditation to the federation’s Certifire fire door and doorset scheme. It has also managed a variety of projects leading to members achieving ISO 9002 accreditation, creating improved customer relationship management systems based on improved response time and reorganising structures to benefit administration and manufacturing.
BWF director Richard Lambert said: “This is exactly what associate membership is all about. It enables us to bring companies who supply our main manufacturing members, whether with components or services, into our community.”
