Experts from the design, academic and DIY fields have held discussions in the first meeting of Wood for Good’s Advisory Board.

Board members include TV personality Tommy Walsh, Dr Martin Ansell of the University of Bath and UCM Timber managing director Mark Plews. The aim is to help champion wood to diverse opinion-formers and target audiences.

They discussed the use of softwood in windows, levels of timber knowledge among architects, self-build and sustainability in the environment.

Charles Trevor, managing director for Wood for Good, said: ‘The fruits of these discussions will vary from the development of media activities through to architect support.’
