OSB supplier Agglo (UK) Ltd plans to target the timber frame home sector now that its Aggloply OSB3 product has gained BBA certification.
The product is manufactured by the Agglo Group in Belgium, where two cutting lines produce a variety of non-standard panel sizes ranging from 6000×2800 to 400×400.
An acrylic coated panel is available in either a vapour barrier or flooring grade quality, which the company says has been popular on the European market.
Lesley-Anne Skerman, managing director of Surrey-based Agglo (UK) Ltd, said in addition to timber frame sheathing, there was a market for the product as flooring in Portacabins. She cited the expected upsurge in affordable accommodation as a potential business driver for Aggloply.
The company believes there is an “urgent need” for the industry to educate the public away from the belief that OSB’s prime use is for boarding up windows following Saturday night revelries.
About 30,000m3 of Aggloply OSB is currently imported to the UK.
