Ahlmark Shipping (UK) Ltd has signed a new ten-year agreement with Associated British Ports (ABP) for its Terminal at the Port of Hull.

The ten-acre site includes 30,000m2 of undercover storage, where approximately 300,000m3/tonnes of forest products are handled from Sweden and Russia annually.

Ahlmark Shipping provides stevedoring, warehousing, ships agency and customs clearance services.

“This new deal with Ahlmark highlights that ABP remains a valuable and trusted partner for timber imports in the Humber,” said Simon Bird, director at ABP Humber.

Tim Hollands, managing director at Ahlmark Shipping, said the agreement demonstrated the continued commitment to the timber industry and the Port of Hull by Ahlmark.

Ahlmark Shipping (UK) Ltd is a subsidiary of Ahlmark Lines AB of Sweden, which has had regular liner services to Hull for nearly 40 years. In this time, its volumes have played an integral part in making the Port of Hull the largest port for sawn timber in the UK.

“Continuing our long-established relationship with ABP in Hull ensures the best geographical location for our expanding UK customer base, and means that we can provide a solid, long-term solution to shippers,” said Peter Anderson, CEO at Ahlmark Lines AB.

The current liner services into Hull include weekly sailings from Kristinehamn, fortnightly sailings from East Coast ports of Skelleftehamn & Iggesund; and monthly services from Domsjo, Gruvon and Ala.
