Biomass technology manufacturer Talbott’s Heating Ltd has been relaunched as a new company following an investment by Leicester-based Air Plants Dust Extraction KLtd.

Air Plants has taken a 50% stake in the company, now called Talbott’s Biomass Energy Systems Ltd, creating a strong alliance in the fields of dust extraction and wood-fired energy.

The new company will focus on Talbott’s core business – wood energy and biomass boilers/heaters, which has proved successful, with more than 4,000 working installations since the company was established in the 1970s.

Talbott’s said the core division had been weakened by other less successful business areas. Job losses have occurred in the biomass generator division, which will be carried on separately under the new name Talbott’s Biomass Generators Ltd to provide combined heat and power plants for electricity generation.

Chris Smith is the new managing director and is positive about the new Air Plants/Talbott’s partnership.

“Together we will be looking to enhance both companies’ industry presence and expertise to remain a prominent force in the wood energy sector,” said Mr Smith.

Bob Talbott will continue to guide the new business and said he was looking forward to carrying the restructured company forward “in a way that preserves Talbott’s 30-year heritage and reputation for quality, British manufactured waste to energy systems”.
