The department specialises in air tightness testing, thermographic inspections and thermal simulation, as well as air permeability testing of building components.
Commenting on the new site tests, new department head Tom Gregory said: “Clients have been concerned about air tightness testing, which became mandatory in April this year under Part L requirements.
“By taking the training course out to them and running a benchmark test on site, we have enabled clients to ‘feel’ the difference between a pass and a fail.”
Mr Gregory was recently joined in the expanded team by Graham Tomic, technical adviser.
“With the publication of Approved Document L in April, there is even more pressure on the construction industry to conserve fuel and power in buildings to reduce carbon dioxide emissions,” said Mr Gregory.
“We want our clients to achieve the desired result and the message we aim to put across is that attention to design, good detailing throughout the project and sound workmanship on site should ensure a pass for the vast majority of properties,” he added.
