Geoff Allen has completed 25 years’ service at SCM Group UK.
Mr Allen, a CNC technician, is a member of SCM’s service division run by John Allenby, and is responsible for installing, commissioning and servicing the company’s range of CNC routers and machining centres.
He started his career as an apprentice contract electrician at Marwin Machine Tools in Leicester, working on NC machine tools, using punched tapes, and routers used for aircraft component manufacturing.
He then moved to Wadkin as a CNC engineer in the NC division, installing and servicing optimising cross-cut sawing systems, travelling extensively on the Continent and Scandinavia.
Mr Allen joined SCM in 1985, training in ISO programming, then installing and servicing SCM’s Routomat and Routron CNC routers, and has continued in this role with the popular Record range of CNC machines.
His son Mark has followed in his footsteps: he completed an apprenticeship at SCM and now installs and services beam saws and CNC machining centres.
Mr Allen, who will retire soon, was presented with a watch by SCM Group UK’s managing director, Gabriele De Col, at the recent W10 exhibition.
