The ceiling and balcony in the main auditorium of the Kunstcluster are clad in more than 3,000 acoustic MDF panels with an American walnut veneer face, while curved rim sections of certain balconies are solid American walnut.

The panels were manufactured by joinery contractor Keijsers Lundiform and veneered by hand at the contractor’s Polish plant.

American tulipwood cladding was used for three foyers and a theatre café which looks on to the town’s central square. Supplier Derako International engineered the tulipwood slats in three dimensions – 45x70mm, 30x98mm and 15x126mm.

The slats were fixed on slightly different levels to increase sound absorption.
