Bendywood, which was developed in Italy, is manufactured from hardwood, beech, maple, oak or ash, that is thermo-mechanically treated, enabling it to be worked like normal timber and then bent in cold, dry conditions.
This improves the quality of curved wooden structures, such as balustrades and staircases, and increases productivity as Bendywood can be easily plied into required shapes according to Angle Ring, with the firm adding that it is 100% ecological as no chemicals are used during the manufacturing process.
Angle Ring, which has 50 years experience manufacturing bending metal profiles, will act as an agent for Bendywood and says it plans to push the product into the UK market and succeed where previous suppliers of the material have failed.
This will include promoting the finished properties of Bendywood, as it can be stained and glued just like other hardwoods and allows customers to achieve the finish they desire and “therefore aesthetically give a superior product”.
