Arch fire retardant treatments have been used to protect timber at the stunning new Culloden battlefield visitor centre.

Exterior oak cladding is treated with Non-Com Exterior to provide a surface spread of flame in accordance with BS476: Part 7, while Dricon was used to protect the interior oak cladding.

The £9m 2,300m² single-storey building, designed by Gareth Hoskins Architects, also features 145 Dricon-treated display panels printed by Leach Colour Ltd using specialised UV printing techniques.

“We are delighted with the results,” said Andy Cope, Leach Colour project manager. “We had searched for a solution to make the boards fire retardant whilst preserving the quality of the graphics.”
