The Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) says it has held discussions with the British Board of Agrément (BBA) following concerns about the service provided by the certification body.

Some supplier members of the BMF highlighted certification timescales and the need for better communication as issues with the BBA service.

The BMF and other trade organisations representing suppliers met BBA chief executive Greg Cooper and operations director Martyn Reed.

“It transpires that the BBA has in fact implemented a number of significant changes within its structure during the past 12 months, reviewing and streamlining processes and investing in additional technical staff and new testing equipment as well as other measures designed to improve its service,” said BMF managing director Chris Pateman.

“However, this has not been widely communicated.”

To reassure suppliers of the steps taking place to address concerns, the BBA is attending the next BMF supplier members meeting in March.
