The Builders Merchants Federation’s (BMF’s) Product Support Strategy has been backed by Local Authority Building Control (LABC), as it “benefits the whole supply chain”.

The strategy involves training builders merchants’ staff to advise customers on the correct materials for each job and how to meet the Building Regulations during construction.

The scheme, which will take the form of Selling Guides, will address a wide range of materials and products, with one of the first guides looking at fire doors.

“The BMF’s Selling Guides are really good examples of straightforward information that will help staff at all levels,” said Philip Hammond, LABC national director of business development.

“Ultimately this training benefits the whole supply chain from manufacturer through to the end customer, because the right decisions are made when people are specifying and purchasing.”
