The first phase of a £140,000 woodland scheme aimed at breathing life into one of Anglesey’s most deprived towns is now open.

Two boardwalks through the Dingle, also known as Nant y Pandy, in Llangefni town centre are designed to make the 10ha wood more accessible for local people and tourists to enjoy.

Community group Cwmni Tref Llangefni developed the scheme, the first Cydcoed-funded woodland project to be given the go-ahead. Further phases include building a sculpture trail and additional access improvements.

Bob Griffiths, Cydcoed project officer, said: “This beautiful woodland town has the potential to play a key part in the regeneration of the whole town. This is exactly what Cydcoed is all about, helping people make better use of woodland for jobs, rural regeneration, recreation and conservation.”
