The division saw sales of US$230.5m, up 20% from the same quarter a year ago. Plywood sales prices and volumes grew 28% and 19% respectively, while the laminated veneer lumber (LVL) segment experienced an 18% boost in volumes.
I-joist and lumber volumes were up 31% and 28% respectively. In the fourth quarter of 2012, the division posted earnings (before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) of US$13.2m, compared with US$2.2m a year before.
Boise said the US housing industry was showing signs of improvement and it remained optimistic that product demand would continue in 2013.
