Harry Brightwell, who lives in Ipswich, takes over from Roger Hay who has retired after holding the position for almost 15 years.

Mr Brightwell will be responsible for the administration of the BCTGA and attracting new members.

He has an MBA and has worked in the public sector for most of his career.

"I’m keen to build on the good work undertaken by Roger and I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead. I particularly want to promote the BCTGA logo so that buyers recognise and look out for the logo when buying Christmas trees," said Mr Brightwell.

"Christmas is a special time for creating memories. Few people will remember a trip into the loft to bring down an artificial tree but they will remember a trip to a local supplier or grower and the pleasure in choosing a tree together."
