Hardwood flooring specialists British Hardwoods has invested more than £750,000 in purpose-built premises to cope with increased business.
A further £50,000 has been invested in a biomass waste-to-energy heating system which will enable the company to recycle all its wood shavings and waste products to heat the premises.
The new 14,000ft2 factory at The Crossings Business Park at Keighley, West Yorkshire has substantially increased the company’s production capacity.
British Hardwoods managing director Tony Fillingham said: “Production has improved by about 30% and that will increase as we develop. We have seen steady growth over the past 10 years and are currently producing around 1,000m2 a week which will increase in the run up to Christmas.”
The increased production capacity has already allowed the company to install a new pre-finishing line enabling it to offer pre-finished flooring and mouldings as well as skirting boards and architrave.
Mr Fillingham said: “We have found that oak flooring has become a commodity, but the area in which we are seeing most growth is specialist floors. We can offer lots of different surface treatments plus the mouldings to go with the flooring.”
